Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: April 2026

Purpose

AdaptoSecret exists to help people share sensitive information securely. This Acceptable Use Policy defines what you may and may not use the service for. Violation of this policy may result in termination of access.

Prohibited Uses

You may not use AdaptoSecret to create, store, or share:

  • Illegal content: Any material that violates applicable laws, including but not limited to content related to illegal drug transactions, weapons trafficking, or fraud.
  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or exploitation: Zero tolerance. Any suspected CSAM will be reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and relevant law enforcement.
  • Harassment or threats: Content intended to harass, threaten, stalk, or intimidate any person.
  • Malware or phishing: Links to malware, ransomware, viruses, or phishing sites. Content designed to trick recipients into compromising their security.
  • Non-consensual intimate imagery: Images or information shared without the consent of the depicted person.
  • Intellectual property infringement: Content that infringes copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights of others.
  • Terrorism or violent extremism: Content that promotes or supports terrorist organizations or violent extremist ideologies.

What We Can and Cannot Do

AdaptoSecret uses zero-knowledge encryption. This means:

  • We cannot read the contents of secrets stored on our service.
  • We cannot scan content for prohibited material.
  • We cannot proactively identify policy violations in encrypted content.

We rely on user reports to identify potential violations. If you believe content on our platform violates this policy, please report it as described below.

Reporting Abuse

To report content that you believe violates this policy, contact us at:

abuse@adaptoit.com

Please include:

  • The secret link (URL) if you have it
  • A description of the content and why it violates our policy
  • Any relevant context about how you encountered this content

We aim to respond to all abuse reports within 72 hours.

Takedown Process

Because we cannot decrypt content, our ability to verify reports is limited. Here is how we handle abuse reports:

  1. We review the report for credibility and policy relevance.
  2. If the reporter can provide the encrypted blob ID (from the URL), we can delete it ahead of its natural expiration, even without being able to verify its contents.
  3. For serious allegations (CSAM, terrorism, imminent threats), we will cooperate with law enforcement and may preserve metadata.
  4. Secrets automatically delete within their configured time window (maximum 7 days) regardless of reports.

We cannot provide the plaintext content of any secret, even to law enforcement, because we do not possess the decryption keys.

DMCA and Copyright Claims

We respect intellectual property rights and comply with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). However, due to our zero-knowledge architecture:

  • We cannot verify whether encrypted content infringes copyrights.
  • We cannot provide copies of content for verification.
  • If you provide a valid DMCA takedown notice with the specific encrypted blob ID and a sworn statement of ownership, we can delete the blob.

Send DMCA notices to legal@adaptoit.com with:

  • Identification of the copyrighted work
  • The specific AdaptoSecret URL containing the alleged infringement
  • Your contact information
  • A statement under penalty of perjury that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner
  • Your physical or electronic signature

Enforcement

Violations of this policy may result in immediate deletion of content (where identifiable), blocking of IP addresses engaged in abuse, and cooperation with law enforcement. Repeat violators may be permanently banned from the service.
